Retrain Your Brain

I always try to make my blog posts, positive.  I try to pick topics that can be helpful, and inspirational to others.  Many of my topics deal with change, and changing our way of thinking.  I am, by no means, an expert on anything that I choose to write about.  I try to live by the words that I write, and try to not be a "Do as I say, and not as I do" person.  However, I do struggle with the positivity aspect at times.  Retraining my brain, is a work in progress.
It is a requirement of this journey to retrain our brains.  If we don't, then we probably will not be successful.  We are having to change the way we eat, the way we plan, the way we think about food, the way we exercise, etc.  We all have our ups and downs, and sometimes it is difficult to keep going.  We have moments that we feel hopeful, and moments that we feel discouraged.  Sometimes it is hard to stay on track, and remain positive.
When I start having negative thoughts, I have to try to catch myself, and stop myself.  This is definitely a retraining process.  I am now starting to look for the good in the situation that I am having the negative thoughts about.  In situations that I would have quit in the past, I try to stay positive, and not give up.  I try to motivate those that are in need of motivation.  I try to help others turn their negative feelings around.  I know that there are many others in our community, who try to do the same thing.  I also know, that there are others to motivate me, and help me to see the good in these situations, when I can't see the good, by myself!

We don't have to go through the retraining aspect alone.  As long as we have each others' backs, we can all become more positive people, and we can all succeed on our journeys!  We must keep in mind that this is an on-going process that never ends.  We can see only positive one day, and the next day, have a negative thought creep into our heads!  No one is perfect, and most of us are not perfectly positive!
So, I'm saying this.  If you see me needing a kick in the butt, or an attitude adjustment, feel free to call me out on this!  I want to live by my words, and remain positive!
There is a lot that can be said about retraining our brains.  I would welcome comments, and discussion.  I'm glad that you all are along on this journey with me!

Always remember – YOU ARE AWESOME!  Go out and make it a great day!

Decisions! Decisions!

Every day, all of us have to make decisions - what to wear, where to go, what to do, what to eat, and probably many more decisions.  More often than not, I struggle with decisions.  Some days I go through 2-3 outfits before I make a decision.  I'm often involved in the conversation of "Where do you want to go?" "I don't know, where do you want to go?" I am an "over-thinker," and sometimes, I think that makes it even more difficult to make the decision.  There are times that I wish someone else would just make decisions for me! I just got back from vacation, and I had a very difficult time making decisions - food decisions.  A few years ago, my boyfriend and I went on vacation, and we were both on diets.  We went to this famous restaurant, and didn't want to cheat, so we didn't eat anything that we "shouldn't" eat.  That was over four years ago, and we still talk about how we will never do that again.  It bothere...

Celebrate Your Wins

Celebrations are so much fun!  There are not enough celebrations in our lives!  Only we can change this! We each have big goals that will take a while to accomplish.  What we need to think about, is that we accomplish smaller goals every day, that lead us to accomplishing our main goal.  Did you eat better today?  Did you drink more water?  Did you take more steps?  Did you weigh in, and the number on the scale go down?  Did you fit into a smaller size in clothes?  Did you feel good today?  Did you like the person that you saw in the mirror?  Were you proud of yourself today? Those are only a few examples of ways that we win each day!  Celebrate your wins!  Be proud!  Post them for others to see!  Congratulate others on their wins!  Celebrating these wins will make our goals seem attainable!  Celebrating with others has a positive impact, for them, but also, for yourself! Take time to ce...

I'm Just Not Feeling It Today

I'm just not feeling it today.  The alarm clock goes off, and you don't want to get up.  You force yourself to get out of bed, but you just want to crawl back in.  You see yourself in the mirror, bed-head and all, and you think to yourself that it just takes way too much effort to get in the shower, to get dressed, to brush your hair, etc.  You decide it all can wait.  You make your way to the couch, and turn on the TV.   In the back of your mind, you may be thinking that you need to get up and exercise.  Maybe you need to do laundry, or go to the store.  You quickly push those thoughts aside.  The next thing you know, you have binge-watched 5 hours of Netflix, maybe even mindlessly eating.  You are suffering from a serious lack of motivation. Have this ever been you?  I'm guilty.  I've had days like this where my fitness tracker didn't track over 500 steps for the whole da...
