Its OK Not To Be Perfect

All of our lives we have been taught to strive for perfection.  We study for perfect scores on tests.  We play musical instruments, and hope to never hit an incorrect note.  On timed activities, we always strive to beat our previous time.  In sports, we strive to beat our previous score.  Those are just a few examples.
I know that I push myself hard, and I hate making mistakes.  I'm sure that most of us do.  I have a tendency to be hard on myself, and I know that others do, as well.  Some of us have been taught to be ashamed of ourselves when we make a mistake.  We have to change our way of thinking.
Now that you are on this journey, who is it that expects perfection out of you?  I bet that YOU are the only one!  What happens when you make a mistake?  What happens when you eat something that may not have been the best choice?  If you are like me, you get angry with yourself.  Is anyone else angry with you?  Probably not!  I bet that you would defend yourself, if someone else were to say something about the "mistake" you made!
We all need to remember that no one is perfect.  No one has a perfect journey, without ever stumbling.  Why do we expect perfection from ourselves, when we probably wouldn't expect perfection from anyone else?  Why?  It's because we can be our own worst enemies!
Some people end their journey when they make a mistake.  We have to stay focused, and know that mistakes are going to happen!  We are going to have days that we might not give the 100% that we want to give.  That's OK!  Just keep moving forward.  We just can't stop!
Remind yourself that it's OK not to be perfect!  You will have good days, and you will have bad days.  You will have strong moments, and weak moments.  You will stumble, and maybe you will fall.  The most important thing, is this...  You are YOU, and that is perfect enough!

Always remember – YOU ARE AWESOME!  Go out and make it a great day!

Decisions! Decisions!

Every day, all of us have to make decisions - what to wear, where to go, what to do, what to eat, and probably many more decisions.  More often than not, I struggle with decisions.  Some days I go through 2-3 outfits before I make a decision.  I'm often involved in the conversation of "Where do you want to go?" "I don't know, where do you want to go?" I am an "over-thinker," and sometimes, I think that makes it even more difficult to make the decision.  There are times that I wish someone else would just make decisions for me! I just got back from vacation, and I had a very difficult time making decisions - food decisions.  A few years ago, my boyfriend and I went on vacation, and we were both on diets.  We went to this famous restaurant, and didn't want to cheat, so we didn't eat anything that we "shouldn't" eat.  That was over four years ago, and we still talk about how we will never do that again.  It bothere...

Doubt Can Kill Your Dreams

Doubt kills more dreams that failure ever will.  All of us have dreams (or goals, if you want to look at them that way.)  As an example, we want to lose weight.  When you decided that you wanted to do this, did you doubt that you could do it?  Did you think that you could do it, and then have someone else tell you that you wouldn't be able to do it, therefore, making you doubt yourself?  How do you think that this will affect your attempt?  If you have a bad day, do you just throw in the towel, and tell yourself that you knew you couldn't do it? I fall into this category.  I want to run a mile, but I have caught myself doubting that I will ever be able to do it.  I have doubted my ability to do this for many years. I justify the doubt by telling myself that I'm just not a runner.  Well, I want to get past that.  I really want to be able to run a mile.  I know that to accomplish this, I will have to constantly tel...

I'm Just Not Feeling It Today

I'm just not feeling it today.  The alarm clock goes off, and you don't want to get up.  You force yourself to get out of bed, but you just want to crawl back in.  You see yourself in the mirror, bed-head and all, and you think to yourself that it just takes way too much effort to get in the shower, to get dressed, to brush your hair, etc.  You decide it all can wait.  You make your way to the couch, and turn on the TV.   In the back of your mind, you may be thinking that you need to get up and exercise.  Maybe you need to do laundry, or go to the store.  You quickly push those thoughts aside.  The next thing you know, you have binge-watched 5 hours of Netflix, maybe even mindlessly eating.  You are suffering from a serious lack of motivation. Have this ever been you?  I'm guilty.  I've had days like this where my fitness tracker didn't track over 500 steps for the whole da...
